We are proud to announce that our very own Wendy Buck was recognized with a 2018 First Place Award for Outstanding Individual Master Gardener, at the Texas Master Gardener Association Search for Excellence awards banquet.
Enthusiasm is contagious, and Wendy Buck has it in spades. Enthusiasm for gardening. Enthusiasm for educating. Enthusiasm for learning. Combining that enthusiasm with energy, intelligence and dedication makes her a joy to work with and an exemplary Master Gardener. Wendy fulfills both leadership and support roles, consistently amassing over 175 hours of volunteer service annually — all while holding down a full-time job that demands out-of-town, often international, travel almost weekly. She chaired the Inside Austin Gardens Tour and participated in the popular East Austin Garden Fair, both of which educate the public. Her certifications as a FireWise Specialist and a Tree Care Specialist testify to her passion for learning. Extending that knowledge, Wendy as recently received training in the City of Austin Urban Forest Steward Program. Overall, Wendy is an inspiration to Master Gardeners, both veterans and first-years. She is a sparkling educator of the Austin community.
